Darkness and Light from Forma on Vimeo.

As part of Pull Out All The Stops, Southbank Centre’s celebration of the restoration and reinstallation of its iconic organ, Forma presents Darkness and Light, by Belgian organist and composer Bernard Foccroulle and leading Australian video artist Lynette Wallworth.

Foccroulle and Wallworth have created a remarkable performance that transcends the conventional form of the organ recital, bringing together 350 years of organ music with evocative portraits of man-made and natural Australian landscapes and astronomical footage contributed by NASA.

The video shows a recent performance for Darkness and Light at Festival van vlaanderen in Brussels.

Darkness and Light, Royal Festival Hall, 7:30pm, Friday 11 April, 2014. Tickets £16.00, plus £1.75 Booking Fee (non-members) and concessions 50% off (limited availability). For more information and to book, see http://www.southbankcentre.co.uk/whatson/darkness-and-light-74360

Great art is often described as being ‘timeless’, speaking to people across the ages no matter their location or background. And there are other times when a work of art, intentionally or unintentionally, poignantly articulates contemporary events.
